More discussions this morning. The original crane that was to hoist The Rose back into the water was not strong enough to handle her 40+ tons. So they were calling in another crane.
Roland and Steph did post some photos of the canals and rivers and their high water. No wonder they couldn't navigate those waters.
While we waited we walked down to a nearby section of Reading that had a small river flowing through it, a lovely promenade, and lots of shops and eateries. We settled on a Lebanese restaurant for lunch.
A later call from our hosts indicated they would send a taxi for us late afternoon and we could watch as the crane lowered The Rose back into the water. That sounded like it would a fun to watch. The taxi showed up and we made it to the marina with no problems. However, it turned out that, once the crane got going it took only about 3 minutes for the boat to be lowered into the water. So, we missed seeing the operation. But they did send us some photos of the operation.
The cranes were still around.
The other couple on the cruise is Kate and John from the US. We had a good time traveling with them. The Rose repositioned to another section of the marina for tonight...
a big marina with lots of boats. (Lots of them were for sale.)
We wandered up to the marina buildings where we saw a swan nesting on a number of eggs.
There were a number of water birds around. Besides more swans…
We saw a coot,
and a very colorful Egyptian Goose.
Dinner - cauliflower steaks.
After a lovely dinner we all retired for the evening.
