Our driver showed up promptly at 10:00 and we were shortly on our way to the Rome airport for our flight to London. Unfortunately, we quickly ran into rather bad traffic. We were completely stopped more than once. At one point the driver pulled off the main route to head into the side streets. And, again, we ran into stopped traffic. Plus, we were getting some rain.
Fortunately, we eventually made it to the expressway and traffic really cleared up and we made it to the airport with time to spare. The flight was delayed by about an hour so we had plenty of time to rest in the lounge.
Some views from the airplane as we arrived in England.
The flight itself was uneventful, customs was easy and our luggage came quickly. When we exited, we quickly found our transfer, a gentleman standing at the exit with a sign with our name. We piled into the car and the gentleman confirmed our hotel. Wrong hotel. With a bit of back and forth he discovered we weren’t arriving from Boston. Turns out we were the wrong Paul Davis. A bit annoying but also funny.
He hurried back
to the terminal to find his actual clients and we hauled all the luggage
back. Our transfer wasn’t around so
after a couple of call we found out he got tired of waiting for us and headed
back into town. He agreed to return for
us and we eventually got everything sorted out and made it to our hotel around
8:00. Since we had eaten on the plane,
we opted to skip dinner and ended up in bed relatively early. What a funny adventure.
