Apr 15 – Kusadasi, Turkey and the Inland towns of Birgi and Tire

Kusadasi is the dropping off point for visiting Ephesus.  However, since we have visited Ephesus before we opted for a tour to visit a couple of inland towns.  Amazingly, we hadn’t visited either on our month long trip to Turkey.

The port of Kusadasi.

Turkish Countryside.

First town we visited was Birgi.

There was a pretty, little mosque…

and a bustling local market.

We also visited a traditional home and were greeted by our hosts, the owners, and given a tour.

Next stop was the town of Tire.

While there we got a demonstration on making felt (basically take the cotton fibers and press them together real hard.

Here they are laying out the pattern.

Then the pattern gets laid onto a fluffy pile of cotton fibers.

This is the pattern ready for pressing and a sample of a completed one.

The pressing operation.

As usual, we saw cats.  Last time we visited Turkey we saw so many cats.

This evening we were treated to a concert by Sabrina Alouche, a singer from London’s West End.  Beautiful voice.
